Q : WHAT ARE PARENTS SAYING ABOUT UNLEASHED INTERNSHIPS?
Q : IS IT SAFE FOR SINGLE COLLEGE STUDENTS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS TO LIVE AND WORK IN SOUTHEAST ASIA?
A : Each Unleashed Internship city is vetted by an Unleashed staff member prior to the intern living and working in Southeast Asia. Our staff vets each city for working conditions, adequate housing, public transportation options, healthcare standards, cultural opportunities, and emergency procedures. Unleashed Internships also require a minimum of 2 interns to live and work in each participating city.
Q : WHAT KIND OF LOCAL HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED FOR INTERNS?
A : Interns live in housing approved by Unleashed and their business leader prior to the intern arriving in the city of the internship. Internship housing, at a minimum, is required to be in a safe community, have access to a private bathroom, air conditioning, and internet. While it is not always possible, we work hard to look for housing options near their business, so they can walk or commute to work easily. This also encourages the intern to become familiar with the community where their employees and families live. Interns are not allowed to drive motorcycles and are encouraged to use public transportation including taxis, buses, rickshaws, tuk-tuks, skytrains, and other forms of public transit that engages them with the local people and infrastructure of the cities and countries they live and work in.
Q : HOW CAN INTERNS STAY CONNECTED TO THEIR FAMILIES WHILE LIVING AND WORKING INTERNATIONALLY?
A : Interns will all have access to internet in the businesses where they work and at their housing accommodations.
Q : WHAT HAPPENS IN CASES OF EMERGENCY? WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
A : All Unleashed Interns are required to purchase IMG Medical, Travel, and Emergency Evacuation Insurance before they arrive for their internship. During Unleashed Training & Orientation, we cover Unleashed Emergency Procedures and available medical facilities for training cities and the city of their business internship. The business leader will review again the specific procedures of their business when the intern arrives in the city of their internship.
Q : CAN I VISIT MY CHILD DURING THEIR INTERNSHIP?
A : The answer to this question is case by case, but the best time to visit would be before or after your child starts the Unleashed Internship Program. It is best that the intern notifies GEI/Unleashed Staff of any visit that could impact their visa or other requirements for them to live and work in the country of their internship.
Q : HOW CAN I SEND MY CHILD MONEY THE CHEAPEST WAY POSSIBLE AVOIDING LARGE INTERNATIONAL FEES?
A : All Unleashed Interns are required to bring a credit card for emergency and medical needs, as well as a bank debit card to withdraw money from a local ATM in the country of their internship. The best way to send money to your child is through your child’s home bank account. The intern can then withdraw money from an ATM in the country of their internship.
